about
There are four people in the eye of a hurricane of desperation; a son, a daughter, a father and a mother. They're doing what it takes to keep still when all you want to do is move, but you know you'll screw everything up if you do. It struck me while writing this that a chorus doesn't need to use the same words every time it shows up in a song. It just needs to sound the same each time, or almost.

HURRICANE LYRICS
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to lose
Nothing to gain
Nothing to choose
And nothing to explain
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
Somebody’s son
Just went too deep
Into the places
Where there’s nothing left to keep
What can he do
To find a crack
He cannot blame
What cannot answer back
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to know
Nothing to break
Nothing to show
Nothing he can’t take
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
There must be ways
To understand
Who made the marks
Upon that daughter’s hand
Without desire
Where should she be
What kind of fire
Won’t let her bend her knee
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to dream
Nothing too near
Nothing to seem
And nothing to make clear
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
A mother knows
The time has come
When she can ask
How much there is undone
But when she finds
What’s comin’ next
She just reminds
Herself what she protects
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to need
Nothing to hold
Nothing decreed
And nothing to be sold
She’s in the eye of the hurricane
Bring on the noise
Release the flood
When a father finds
That war is in his blood
If he appears
With empty hands
How many know
Or care just where he stands
He’s in they eye of the hurricane
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to say
Nothing to serve
Nothing to pay
Nothing he must help preserve
He’s in the eye of the hurricane
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
Nothing to lose
Nothing to gain
Nothing to choose
Nothing further to explain
You’re in the eye of the hurricane
